RNA – Speaking in a television interview, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Muhammad-Husayn al-Hakim, the director of the office of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muhammad Sa’id al-Hakim, explained the nature of the Islamic Seminary of Najaf, especially its independence and the fundamental role it plays in the development of a peaceful life in society.
“The mujtahids play a role and a major influence in opening the gates of ijtihad among Shi’as and the continuing relationship between the lovers of the Ahlul-Bayt and the just scholars,” he said.
The Iraqi cleric said that the role of the sources of emulation in Najaf is to provide detailed guidance. "They do not intervene in political issues," he said.
"When they see that government officials are not performing their duties correctly and do not provide essential services to the people, they close their office doors to demonstrate their dissatisfaction," he added.
Hujjat al-Islam al-Hakim stressed that the sources of emulation call for stability in various areas so that people and their families have hope and confidence for the future.
The director of the Office of Grand Ayatollah al-Hakim said that the sources of emulation always prefer the interests of the people over their own personal interests and they invite the public to live peacefully.
He expressed serious concern over the role of some media outlets in spreading sedition in Iraq, noting the media is spreading dissension and discord between Sunnis and Shi’as while Sunnis live in predominantly Shi’a cities like Baghdad and Basrah in complete security.
Hujjat al-Islam al-Hakim criticized the supporters of terrorism in Iraq and said, “During what other time have terrorists come to Iraq from various countries? During which time and in which form did they plan for such a large gathering of terrorists? While this terrorist phenomenon has established itself in the countries of the Middle East, some of them have a university degree or higher.”
He pointed to the crimes of Daesh and said that no innocent child, woman, man or any object that is tied to the history of Shi’ism is immune from Daesh’s terrorist actions and brutal attacks.
In conclusion, His Eminence said the world must know that the battle of the people of Iraq is in the battle to liberate Mosul which is a battle of principles and human values. “The terrorists do not acknowledge human values and continue their brutal actions in various regions,” he said.
