RNA – Grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi-Golpaygani, a Qom-based source of emulation, met with officials from the University of Religions and Denominations, and said, “The establishment of this educational centre was a worthwhile gesture. This university has its roots at the heart of the Islamic Seminaries aiming to conduct research activities on interreligious issues in order to train professional scholars.”
“The steps you take in this regard are absolutely admirable,” he continued.
“Every year, we receive hundreds of foreign cultural and academic delegations in this respected academic centre and it is something extremely valuable,” the source of emulation added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Safi-Golpaygani stated, “There is a growing need for clerics to familiarize themselves with the doctrines of other religions and Islamic sects in the current era since we are not able to come up with logical answers to the modern inquiries raised every day unless we are aware of the ideology and doctrines of other religions, therefore, it is a must to fully recognize our potentials first in order to answer such inquiries.”
