RNA – "The region is moving towards decisive choices that affect the geographical boundaries of the Middle East," the Association of Muslim Scholars of Lebanon said in a statement issued after a meeting of the groups’ Central Council.

The Association also rejected "any move which helps the Zionists and Americans achieve their goals to divide the Islamic world and the establish a Kurdish state based on the division of Iran, Iraq, Turkey and Syria after the collapse of the objectives of the 1916 Sykes-Picot Agreement."

They also condemned the division of Yemen on the basis of Saudi aggression.

The group of Shi’a and Sunni clerics stressed their opposition to the establishment of a Kurdish state based on the partition of these countries and added that "this project is only in the interest of the Zionist enemy. “Kurds are an essential part of the Islamic nation and must pursue their natural right undermining Islamic unity"

They also condemned the intervention of Turkish troops in northern Syria and stated that any intervention by foreign forces must have the approval of the Syrian government and should be aimed at destroying Daesh, adding, “Otherwise these forces should be considered as occupiers and we must deal with them according to the provisions of diplomacy.”

The Association of Muslim Scholars of Lebanon also condemned the ongoing Saudi aggression against Yemen and added that the Saudi government should agree to former Yemeni president, Ali Abdullah Saleh’s plan based on dialogue between the Yemeni presidential council and the Saudi government in order to save the Al Saud from the crisis which has befallen them due to the resistance and persistence of the Yemeni people.

They welcomed the news that a planned suicide attack on a Shi’a mosque was foiled in the eastern Saudi city of Qatif on Wednesday and demanded the eradication of the Wahhabi-Takfiri ideology.

The group of Lebanese clerics stressed that the power vacuum in the Lebanese government must not continue and added that the election of a president and the approval of an election law on the basis of proportion will end the crisis in the country.

The Association of Muslim Scholars of Lebanon said that any talk of disarming the Islamic Resistance [Hezbollah] is aimed at taking advantage of the current situation in Lebanon. Hezbollah’s weapons guarantee Lebanon’s protection against the Zionist and Takfiri threat and stressed that these weapons must be protected as part of the defensive strategy of the the army, nation and resistance.
