RNA – Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi has met with Mohammad Nahavandian, the Chief of Staff of the President of Iran, at the office of His Eminence in the holy city of Qom.
The revered source of emulation conveyed his greetings and appreciation to President Hasan Rouhani in regard to the efforts made by the government over the past three years and said, “Society requires an explanation of the efforts and activities of the government and the government must state these achievements for the people in effective ways and if the actions of the government are explained clearly with orderly style and prose, they will have greater influence on public opinion, although this issue will not negate all of the problems.”
Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi noted that the three main problems facing the Iranian economy are trafficking, bank profits and the payment of subsidies, saying they pose serious damage to the country’s economy and if these issues are solved, certainly Iran’s economic situation will be better.
His Eminence emphasized the importance of addressing the scourge of trafficking, saying, “The issue of combating trafficking is a critical issue and even the people must seriously deal with this issue alongside the government and other forces.”
He explained that the roots and sources of this phenomenon must be identified and added that for public opinion, the individuals and groups who have created the problems facing the country should be noted and the individuals who benefit from this situation should be divulged to the public.
Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi said the issue of bank profits poses serious problems for the Iranian economy and added that the policies and decisions of the Central Bank of Iran must be adhered to by all banks in the country, which, he added, have been guaranteed but unfortunately, they have not yet been achieved.
He stressed that it was wrong to pay subsidies to all Iranians in the past few years and added that the economic plan was implemented in an incorrect manner from the beginning and this has created one of the biggest problems and can even lead to social and cultural problems.
