Ayatollah ‌Sayyed Ahmad Khatami

RNA – Speaking at the closing ceremony of his series of lectures on strengthening the foundations of religious belief and responding to doubts in Shahrekord, Ayatollah Sayyed Ahmad Khatami said that one of the core values of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution is anti-imperialism and expressed regret that today some Iranian government officials see every aspect of the Revolution in relation to the United States and this is the greatest damage and is in complete contradiction with the revolutionary spirit.

Tehran’s temporary Friday prayer leader emphasized that given the current situation, the manifestation of clear evil in the world is the President of the United States, Barack Obama.

“Certainly, the war room in Yemen, Syria, Bahrain, Iraq and other Muslim countries is controlled by the United States,” he added.

He pointed out that the spirit of anti-imperialism exists in the context of religion, and said: “Certainly the slogan ‘Death to America’ is not an ordinary slogan because this slogan is tied to the ideal of anti-imperialism, which is same as which is prescribed in our religious sources and we must not allow it to loose its luminosity.”

Ayatollah Khatami said that from the perspective of the Supreme Leader, the most important ideal of the Islamic Revolution is the formation of Islamic civilization.

“We must demonstrate that we can have a religious-based government and in light of this government, we can also manage the lives of the people,” the senior Iranian cleric said.

He pointed out that the imperialist powers were surprised by the events leading up to Iran’s Islamic Revolution, saying, “The imperialists never could have predicted the spread of the Revolution and did not think it would occur and due to this, they killed many people.”

Ayatollah Khatami stated that our slogan today is the same slogan as we had at the beginning of the Revolution, “We say ‘neither East nor West’ – the Islamic Republic and this slogan comes from Iran’s all-inclusive independence.”
