Punjab government abducts four Shi’a clerics still missing

RNA – Four renowned Shi’a clerics and students from Mashhad were visiting their families in Pakistan remain missing until now, allegedly held captive at the hands of Pakistani intelligence.

 

The learned clerics, students of the Islamic Seminary of Mashhad, were visiting their families in the Pakistani province of Punjab before they were found missing.

 

The theologians missing are Sayyed Imran Sajjad (Chakwal), Sayyed Zishan Gilani (Mahmoud Kot Muzaffargarh), Sayyed Saqlayn Naqavi (Jhund Attock) and Aqil Husayn Khan (Sarghoda).

 

It has been months that the said clerics have been abducted or missing, allegedly at the hands of Punjab’s security agency.

 

Sayyed Imran Sajjad of Chakwal, belonging from Shi’a Ulama Council (SUC) remains missing for the past four months.

 

Sayyed Zishan Gilani of Mahmoud Kot Muzaffargarh, member of Wifaq Ulama Shi’a and disciple of Hafiz Riyaz Naqavi, remains missing with no news for the past three months.

 

Mawlana Aqil Husayn Khan of Sarghoda, a member from Majlis Wahdat Mashhad, missing for one month.

 

Sayyed Saqlayn Naqavi of Jhund Attock, a member of Wifaq Ulama Shi’a and disciple of Hafiz Riyaz Naqavi, taken into custody, hasn’t been heard of for the past three months.

 

Whether they are missing or have been abducted is yet to be ascertained, but the whole Shi’a population of Pakistan is perturbed over the issue. Despite several efforts the government hasn’t paid any heed to the issue, asserting the allegation of Provincial government’s involvement.


Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) Pakistan, Shi’a Ulama Council and Wifaq Ulama Shi’a, asserting governments’ involvement, have strongly condemned the governments over the issue and demanded immediate retrieval of the missing.
