RNA – During his Friday prayer sermon to a large and fervent crowd of believers in Qom’s Qods Prayer Hall, Ayatollah Seyyed Hashem Hoseyni-Bushehri pointed to the recent scandal at the United Nations saying: “This organization is not an international organization, rather it is an organization of imperialistic countries.”

On‌ Thursday, the United Nations removed the Saudi-led coalition from a children's rights blacklist for killing children in Yemen after it faced “bullying, threats” and “pressure”.

In an open letter to Ban, Human Rights Watch and 19 other organizations called on the U.N. to immediately return the Saudi-led coalition to the "list of shame."

His Eminence expressed surprise that after a few days the UN has announced that Saudi Arabia was removed from the blacklist and stressed that all supporters of human rights in the world cry out loud for what has happened.

Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri stressed: “Standing behind the podium, Ban Ki-moon said that that this decision ‘one of the most painful and difficult decisions [he] has had to make’ because Saudi Arabia and some other countries have threatened to cut off support for the UN in order that they be removed from the blacklist.”

Qom’s Friday prayer leader added that it is a pity that Ban has been named the UN Secretary-General.

He added that after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, evidence was to be released which showed Saudi Arabia’s role in the attacks, but Saudi Arabia threatened to remove their assets from the US. “For this reason, the case was dropped. This is a great disgrace in the world today. The younger generation should recognize this so that they are not attracted to their deceptive speech,” he said.

In other remarks, Ayatollah Hoseyni-Bushehri commemorated the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan and added that Ramadan is a month-long competition of worship wherein good deeds are multiplied and bad deeds are destroyed.
