Rasa – Ayatollah al-Najafi referred to the recent victories of the Iraqi security forces in Fallujah and expressed his happiness and the importance of the liberation of Iraq from the hands of ISIL terrorists.
Ayatollah al-Najafi meets Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis

RNA – Grand Ayatollah Bashir Husayn al-Najafi has met with the commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis at His Eminence’s office in the holy city of Najaf. 

 

The revered source of emulation expressed happiness and praised the recent victories of the Iraqi security forces over the ISIL terrorist group and stressed that the importance of the liberation of Iraq from the hands of the terrorists. 

 

He also stressed upon the necessity of protecting public and private property in in the operations to liberate ISIL-occupied territory, saying: “We are honoured and proud for having such children among the security forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces people.” 

 

Ayatollah al-Najafi also stressed the importance of standing firm and strong against the enemies of Iraq.

 

During the meeting, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis briefed Ayatollah al-Najafi on the progress of the operation to liberate Fallujah from the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group and on the victories achieved by the Iraqi security forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces in the city

 

On May 23, the Iraqi military started a large-scale push to drive out the militants from Fallujah, located 65 kilometres (40 miles) west of the capital, Baghdad.

 

The city is one of the last major ISIL strongholds in Iraq. The Takfiri group still controls territory in the country's north and west, including Iraq's second largest city of Mosul.

 

ISIL overran Fallujah in the western al-Anbar Province in January 2014, six month before the terror group proceeded with its offensive, taking more areas in Iraq and declaring a caliphate.
