RNA - Addressing the Law Enforcement Police commanders and personnel in Tehran on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei called on people and officials to protect the existing unity in the country.
"Creating two streams, two sects and two poles is among the lethal blows that the enemy is seeking (to strike at Iran)," he warned.
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to Iran's "good and continued" progress despite enemies' attempts during the past 37 years after the Islamic Revolution, and said the Islamic Republic, backed by people, has foiled all enemies' plots.
"The enemies' attempts to create an atmosphere of hopelessness, pessimism and difference in the country are also rooted in their anger at Iran's progress," he added.
In relevant remarks last May, Ayatollah Khamenei had also warned of enemies' plots to sow discord between the Shiite and Sunni Muslims and among different tribes and religious sects in Iran.
"Creating difference and division among the Islamic Ummah is today one of the enemies' main plots and therefore, all the people should be vigilant not to speak of differences so outloud and avoid becoming a loudspeaker for the enemies of Islam and Quran," Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing participants in the 32nd round of the International Quran Contests in Tehran.
He warned that anyone speaking of differences to create rifts among Muslims is serving the enemies, and said, "Creating gaps under the name of Shiite-Sunni or Arab-Persian differences or differences among other tribes and nationalities as well as developing nationalist bias is on the agenda of the ill-wishers of the Islamic Ummah and they (such plots) should be confronted through insight and determination," he added.
Ayatollah Khamenei underscored the necessity for deepening insight and differentiating between friends and foes, and said when insight is accompanied by determination and resolve, resistance against pressures and plots will be easy.
