RNA – In an interview with Rasa News Agency, Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Gharavi, a member of the Supreme Council of Islamic Seminaries, referred to the Supreme Leader’s emphasis on the importance of the Assembly of Experts remaining revolutionary and acting in a revolutionary manner.
He said the dignity of the Assembly of Experts is such that a Supreme Leader is chosen in a [power] vacuum. “A leader must be appropriate for the Islamic system of governance and the Islamic Revolution,” he said.
The teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom said that if a revolutionary spirit does not exist in the Assembly of Experts, a mistake can be made in the determination of the Supreme Leader. The task of the Assembly of Experts is such that in a leadership vacuum, a Leader is chosen and this Leader must be revolutionary.
“[The Leader] must know the indicators of being revolutionary and be committed to them so that he can perform his role well,” he said.
Ayatollah Gharavi said that one of the duties of the Assembly of Experts is monitoring the qualifications of the present leader, adding: “This monitoring should in accordance with the criteria which are stated in the Constitution so that they are always protected. The Assembly of Experts should have such a character so that they can perform their duties correctly.”
The member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom said that the Assembly of Experts is an institution that revolutionizes the system and protects its authenticity based on the correct decisions made by this institution.
His Eminence explained that the Assembly of Experts is an organization which has a specific integrity and should take positions in a variety of conditions and requirements. The positions that it must take must be based on protecting the system and Revolution and the authenticity of the Revolution.
“This requires that the Assembly of Experts remain revolutionary,” he stressed.
