RNA – Grand Ayatollah Mohammad-Ali Alavi-Gorgani met with a group of teachers from Qom province on the anniversary of Mortaza Motahhari’s martyrdom, which marks Teacher’s Day in Iran, and referred to verse 31 of Surah al-Baqarah, saying teachers hold a lofty status in Islam and teaching is one of God’s attributes.
The revered source of emulation added: “The first teacher was God Almighty and all the prophets of God were teachers of religion and people who spent their lives teaching and learning.”
His Eminence continued stated that when the angels addressed God Almighty, they said: “We glorify you, thus, there is no need to create mankind who will only engage in corruption on earth.”
“This shows that they foresaw the ISIL Takfiri threat that we face today who see beheading as an honourable act,” he said.
Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani said: “Unfortunately, today’s world is plagued by human ignorance and that ignorance causes problems in society and through this ignorance, they engage in criminal actions.”
He explained that while ISIL considers mankind as ignorant, ISIL are an example of complete ignorance and if man was not ignorant, they would not engage in such actions. “Though there are differences of opinion, these differences are not proof of the elimination for the life of humanity,” he said.
The Iranian scholar said: “In reply to the angels, God answered: ‘I know something you do not know.’ It is stated in narrations that the reason behind the creation of mankind was for the Infallible Imams. God brought evil-doers to this world to complete His proof over mankind.”
Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani mentioned a hadith from Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq that the Prophet Muhammad enjoys complete reason and he is not lacking in any knowledge but also God says to pray to Him and ask Him to add to our knowledge because knowledge is light and God puts light in the hearts of His servants.
