Rasa – A faculty member of al-Mustafa International University criticized the massive supply of foreign goods in some stores in Iran, saying some of the major shopping centres only sell foreign goods and when someone enters such shops, it looks like they have left Iran!

RNA – Speaking at a press conference at the University of Qom’s Faculty of Economics, Hujjat al-Islam Dr. Naser Rafiei-Mohammadi, stated that the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, has spoken about the resistance economy in more than 25 speeches. “This indicates the importance of the issue,” he said.

 

He added that these speeches which were delivered to groups of the country’s elite, officials and various sectors of society, which indicates the need for a mass movement to promote the achievement of a resistance economy.

 

The religious affairs expert said the resistance economy takes advantage of both indigenous and foreign-based capabilities and added that it calls for logical and constructive interaction with various foreign countries. 

 

Hujjat al-Islam Rafiei explained that the resistance economy is not an austerity economy as some have assumed but that the resistance economy is focused on correct consumption and the avoidance of lavish spending, not low consumption. 

 

His Eminence referred to the necessity of performing the practical work in order for the resistance economy to bear fruit and added that the resistance economy is the same as a knowledge-based economy and is opposed to a dependent and consumer-based economy.

 

The expert in Shiatology explained that one of the ways to provide support for the resistance economy is to promote domestic production. “Most people tend to prefer foreign goods while the support of domestic production is one of the main strategies to achieve a resistance economy and this should be considered by all Iranians,” he said.

 

He criticized the massive supply of foreign goods in some stores said some of the major shopping centres only sell foreign goods and when someone enters such shops, it looks like they have left Iran! “Such actions harm the economy,” he emphasized.

 

He also noted the role of the Islamic Seminary in the achievement of a resistance economy, saying: “In the narrations of the Ahlul-Bayt, there are informative points mentioned in regard the correct use of capital and these must be raised by the clergy.”
