RNA – In an exclusive report for Rasa News Agency, Harun Elbinawi, a Nigerian activist and ‎public affairs analyst, expressed his thoughts on the murder of George Floyd, a 46-year-old ‎African-the American man, who was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 25, 2020, after ‎allegedly using a counterfeit $20 bill at a market. ‎

While Floyd was handcuffed and lying face down on a city street during an arrest, Derek ‎Chauvin, a white the American Minneapolis police officer, kept his knee on the right side of ‎Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. According to the criminal complaint against ‎Chauvin, 2 minutes and 53 seconds of that time occurred after Floyd became unresponsive.‎

After Floyd’s death, demonstrations and protests in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area were ‎initially peaceful on May 26, and later that day became violent as a police precinct and two ‎stores were set on fire, and many stores were looted and damaged. Some demonstrators ‎skirmished with police, who fired tear gas and rubber bullets. Additional protests developed ‎in over 200 cities throughout all 50 states in the United States as well as internationally.‎

In this regard, Mr. Binawi told Rasa News Agency:

What is presently happening in the United States after the murder of George Floyd are not ‎riots as the heavily compromised mainstream media wants us to believe. This is a popular ‎uprising by the oppressed American people. This issue transcends the murder of a single ‎black man by the racist the American police.‎

Yesterday, an African-American brother who is a follower of Shaykh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the ‎leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, sent me a video clip of a protest. They were ‎chanting “Allahu Akbar.” That brought tears to my eyes. He said they plan to raise the ‎banner of Shaykh Zakzaky today, I advised him that it is not necessary. I told him this is a ‎popular uprising and they should play an active part in the liberation of the oppressed ‎people in the United States. He requested our prayers.‎

Police fired tear gas outside the White House late Sunday [June 31] as major American cities ‎were put under curfew to suppress the uprising as anti-racism protestors again took to the ‎streets to voice fury at the police brutality.‎

Washington, the capital of the United States is on fire, the coward President Donald Trump is ‎hiding in a bunker, numerous major cities are protesting the heinous crimes and atrocities of ‎the security forces, the COVID-19 pandemic is spreading fast and more than 100,000 people ‎have died and there are more than 40 million unemployed people. This is a brief summary of ‎what is happening in the United States today.‎

If Trump was the leader of a hostile Middle Eastern country, the racist and genocidal ‎American regime would demand he step down. This is the modus operandi of the imperialist ‎American regime.‎

It is important to note the total silence of Western European countries. They are birds of the ‎same feather. Racism is systematically embedded in Western civilization of which white ‎supremacy is the ultimate goal.‎

The arrogant leaders of the West do not even acknowledge that systematic racism exists in ‎their societies and Western environments are infested with hate for all non-white. ‎Acknowledgement is the first step towards finding a lasting solution to this problem.‎

We fully support the American uprising, strongly condemn the brutalities and naked racism ‎of the American police forces and offer condolences for the glorious martyrs of this uprising.‎
