We welcome President Rouhani’s visit to Iraq

RNA – In his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers in ‎‎the ‎‎‎‎Iraqi holy city of Najaf’s al-Fatimiyah al-Kubra Husayniyah, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid ‎‎Sadruddin ‎‎‎‎al-Qubanchi referred to the upcoming visit by Iranian president Hasan Rouhani to Iraq and ‎said, “We welcome President Rouhani’s visit to Iraq to discuss the outstanding issues ‎between the two countries.”‎

President Rouhani is set to pay an official visit to Iraq on March 11th in order to boost ‎bilateral ties between the two neighbors amid American sanctions against the Islamic ‎Republic.‎

The Iraqi Shi’ah scholar pointed to the paradox between the visit of the President of the ‎United States, Donald Trump, and the visit of President Rouhani, which was announced two ‎weeks ago. ‎

In other remarks, Hujjat al-Islam ‎‎‎al-Qubanchi praised the statements made by Mohammad ‎al-Halbousi, the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq, during his visit to Iran‎ in ‎which he refused allow to Iraq to be used as a launching pad for attacks on its neighbours ‎and his ‎rejection of sanctions and aggression against Iran and thanked the Islamic Republic ‎for supporting Iraq in its ‎fight against terrorism.‎

His Eminence said that the statements by al-Halbousi demonstrate the loyalty and sincerity ‎of the speaker of the Iraqi parliament to his people.‎

He also expressed his rejection of the decision by Washington to include the Islamic ‎Resistance group, Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, on their list of terrorist groups and stressed, ‎‎“This position indicates the fear, weakness and lack of success of the United States, as ‎demonstrated by the courageousness of our forces and their ability to impose their will.”‎

Hujjat al-Islam ‎‎‎al-Qubanchi ‎welcomed the statements of Shawki Allam, the Grand Mufti of ‎Egypt, in his meeting with Dr. Abdul-Latif al-Humaym, the head of the Iraq’s Sunni ‎Endowment Office, in which he stated that the Iraqis were victorious in achieving the unity of ‎the people under their religious leadership. ‎

Stressing the significance of these statements, he said, “Iraq presents the world with a model ‎and a new phenomenon and the Arab world has become acquainted with it.”‎
