RNA – Speaking during his Quranic Exegesis class at Qom’s Grand Mosque, Grand Ayatollah Abdollah Javadi-Amoli said that the final section of Surah al-Talaq [Chapter of the Divorce] is related to the teachings of monotheism and added, “This chapter is about the rulings about family and the emphasis that the Quran places on women’s rights is less visible in regard to other issues.”
The revered source of emulation added, “What existed and still exists in modern and historical ignorance is that women’s rights were not met by men and women themselves. The foundation of the family is based upon chastity and hijab and the insistence of the Holy Quran on women’s rights is to protect the basis of the family. Women have responsibility for tranquility, although the men have responsibility to provide housing.”
Ayatollah Javadi-Amoli said, “Women can maintain family comfort when women’s rights are protected by women themselves and others also consider women’s rights as respectful.”
He stressed, “The two pillars that preserve the family are rational wisdom and mercy. The man who has the most practical power must provide financial support and housing and the woman with emotional power provide tranquility. The affection of the woman is far stronger than the man’s affection and the fact that they cry easier is capital. The capital of women is affection that men don’t have.”
The teacher in the Islamic Seminary of Qom stated that the woman may cry easily but this cry is a sign of her kindness and affection and said, “Affection administers society. The problem of the increasing rate of divorce today is due to the fact that affection and kindness has been weakened in society and today, there are 15 million cases being investigated in the court system.”
Ayatollah Javadi-Amoli said, “The only way to save of the country from these judicial cases is to adhere to the Quran and narrations. The fist is for warfare and external confrontation and when we arrive, this fist must be opened and shaken. If affection and kindness are strengthened in society, the divorce rate decreases and the marriage rate increases.”
