RNA – According to Rasa News Agency, Abdol-Rahim Sadatifar, Iran’s Consul General in Najaf, visited and spoke with Ayatollah Bashir al-Najafi.
Ayatollah al-Najafi called for increasing “communication and cooperation between Iraq and Iran” and said that “relations between the two countries should expand in economic, cultural and tourist spheres because the dignity of Islam is dependent on unity among Muslims.”
During the meeting, Sadatifar also emphasized the need for increasing relations between Islamic countries.
Iraqi Prime Minister Hayder al-Abadi officially announced on Wednesday that his country has fully defeated Daesh after almost four years of fighting.
al-Abadi thanked Iraqi forces and their allies for achieving the historic victory in a televised address to the nation.
