RNA – In a meeting with the Commander-in-Chief of the Law Enforcement Force of Islamic Republic of Iran, Hoseyn Ashtari, and a group of police commanders, Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem-Shirazi pointed out the significant activities of Iran’s law enforcement personnel and the creation of order and security in the country, said, “One of the reasons for your success is your holding of mourning ceremonies for Imam Husayn during the first ten days of the month of Muharram in complete safety and security.”
Referring to the shooting incident in Las Vegas, Nevada, the revered source of emulation added, “Today, you see that in a country that considers itself to be a superpower that great insecurity prevails, so that in one of the American cities, a man was able to shoot and kill or injure a few hundred people. Thus, we can boldly say due to the mercy of God and the Ahlul-Bayt and the efforts of our law enforcement personnel, we are in an island of safety.”
On October 1, a mass shooting was carried out by Stephen Paddock that left 58 people dead and 489 wounded and is the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history and once again highlighted the United States’ extreme rate of gun violence.
In another part of his speech, Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi expressed his appreciation for the police force in regard to their correct method of confronting the erroneous custom of tatbir (self-flagellation) during the month of Muharram and said, “Today, tatbir isn’t being carried out openly in the holy city of Qom and we hope that in the near future that this wrong custom in love of Imam Husayn will be eliminated throughout the entire country.”
He said that there are two blessings which won’t be appreciated until they are lost and explained, “Today, some people are trying to create insecurity within the borders of our country, including the issue of Kurdistan. With God’s mercy, they will not achieve their goals.”
He added, “Those who bang the drums of independence in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region wouldn’t have carried out the independence referendum it if they had any reason because the three great powers around this country wouldn’t allow them to flaunt themselves and won’t allow them until they establish a new Israel in the region and some of them have acknowledged themselves that they were hoping to help the Zionist regime.”
Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi further emphasized the need for the police to pay more attention to cyberspace, and noted, “The enemies have used all their efforts in this field today to spread moral, political and social corruption. Thus, cyberspace and its dangers should be taken as a by to the police.”
While expressing his satisfaction with the strengthening of the religious and revolutionary spirit in the police force, His Eminence pointed out that the emphasis by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, on the strengthening of religious morality is a clear philosophy.
“Only those who are sympathetic toward the country and have a love for Islam and the Islamic Revolution in their hearts, such as the defenders of the holy shrines, are on this same path,” he added.
In conclusion, Ayatollah Makarem-Shirazi said, “The enemies are afraid of the unity and sympathy of Islamic Iran and be sure that the presence of people in the funeral of Martyr Mohsen Hojjaji has become a great horror for them and for this reason, they are striving to damage the morality and beliefs of the people and this issue makes the duty of the people more difficult.”
