RNA – Speaking on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Imam Ali at a ceremony held by Hezbollah at Baalbek’s Ras al-Husayn Mosque, Hujjat al-Islam Nabil Qawouq, the vice-president of the Executive Council of Hezbollah, said, “The military and political developments in Syria have great importance to Lebanon because Lebanon’s security is tied to Syria’s security and the United States’ attack on Syria is a real threat to the stability of Lebanon.”
The Lebanese Shi’ah cleric added that future victories on the battlefield in Syria are the best response to the stupid policies of US President Donald Trump and stressed, “Saudi Arabia should know that their financial and moral support for the US attack on Syria will lead to danger for the national security of Lebanon.”
Hujjat al-Islam Qawouq said that the firing of 59 Tomahawk cruise missiles by the US against Syria last Friday was an attempt to change the powerful positions of Syria and to change the equations on the battlefield and noted, “But it has been proven for all that the American missiles which targeted the al-Shayrat Airbase could not change the status quo in Syria.”
He referred to the continued support of Syria’s allies for the Islamic Resistance Axis against the US and said no one is safe from the evil of the Takfiris and even the evil Zionist regime will taste the evil of the Takfiris and added, “The war against the Takfiris will continue and this battle will occur in the heart of Lebanon because Daesh and the al-Nusrah Front have occupied parts of Lebanese territory in Jurud Arsal and Ras Baalbek.”
The senior member of Hezbollah continued, “Should we close our eyes to the occupation of Lebanon by Daesh and the al-Nusrah Front? Should we await the arrival of Daesh from Mosul and Raqqah? The national responsibility is obligatory upon all the honourable people of the homeland, the army and the Islamic Resistance who are situated at the peak of awakening and the fight against Daesh and the al-Nusrah Front will continue until the end.”
In another part of the speech, Hujjat al-Islam Qawouq referred to the failure to pass a new electoral law in Lebanon, saying, “The peoples’ trust in the government has been lost because it failed to pass the new electoral law. Due to the obstructive and deceptive policies in the country, Lebanon has reached a difficult level and measures must be taken to ensure political stability in the country.”
