RNA – Speaking at a ceremony celebrating girls who have reached the age of maturity at the al-Mustafa School, Hujjat al-Islam Nabil Qawouq, the vice-president of the Executive Council of the Lebanese Islamic Resistance movement, Hezbollah, described Saudi Arabia as a supporter of terrorism, saying, “The Al Saud provides financial aid and weapons to the terrorists in order to extend the war in Syria. Saudi Arabia is the supporter of the al-Nusrah Front, which engages in kidnapping, slaughter and killing of civilians in Lebanon.”
The Lebanese cleric added that Saudi Arabia is also involved in sending car bombs into Lebanon and the occupied lands of Jurud Arsal.
Hujjat al-Islam Qawouq stressed that Lebanon has the right to call on the Saudi regime to stop providing support to the al-Nusrah Front because this support constitutes a direct danger and threat to the security and stability of Lebanon and to the Lebanese people.
In regard to the current political situation in Lebanon, the senior member of the Islamic Resistance said those who are greedy toward the homeland haven’t allowed the obstruction of the new electoral law and through insistence on their interests, they’re not pushing Lebanon into an abyss and an unknown future.
He added, “Due to national responsibility, it’s incumbent on all sides to pass the new electoral law because the failure to pass this law will lead to a legal vacuum in the country and the constitutional deadlines don’t allow the continuation of prevarication and evasion.”
Hujjat al-Islam Qawouq said that those who are hopeful of any dissension between Hezbollah and its allies in regard to the adoption of the new electoral law are living in an illusion and will only attain disappointment and regret.
President Michel Aoun, Hezbollah and the Amal Movement are insisting on the “total proportionality” system. Prime Minister Sa’ad al-Hariri, Democratic Gathering leader Walid Jumblatt and the Lebanese Forces want either a hybrid law or the majoritarian system, which would yield the same results as before, granting their alliance – the March 14 Coalition – the majority of seats in parliament.
