RNA – In his Friday prayer sermon delivered to a large and fervent crowd of believers at Qom’s Qods Prayer Hall, Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad Sa’idi referred to the anniversary of the establishment of the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee, which was founded on March 5, 1979 to provide support for poor families and said, “Only 22 days after the beginning of the victory of the [1979] Islamic Revolution, support for those in need was placed at the top of the agenda of the Islamic Revolution through the decree of Imam Khomeini.”
The custodian of the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah said the main aim of establishing this organization was to offer material and intellectual assistance to the needy so that they can stand on their feet and become independent.
“March 5th was named as a day of kindness and charity so that the dear people of Iran can offer their loving hands to their fellow human beings in need on the eve of Norouz and the beginning of spring,” he said.
Ayatollah Sa’idi noted that this week marks the beginning of Natural Resources Week and Arbour Day and said, “This day is one of the most blessed days and every year, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iranian authorities and people plant symbolic trees and demonstrate their efforts to protect the environment in this manner. Everyone must consider chopping down trees as a crime and a mistake.”
In other remarks, he commemorated the martyrdom anniversary of Ayatollah Abdorrahim Rabbani-Shirazi and said this renowned jurist was one of Imam Khomeini’s close aids, one of the promoters of school of the Ahlul-Bayt, one of players in the victory of the Islamic Revolution and one of the most effective members of the Assembly of Experts.
Ayatollah Sa’idi noted the anniversary of the foundation of the Culture and Arts Clubs in mosques across Iran and said these clubs must focus on congregational prayer leaders to turn mosques into bases to strengthen soldiers, those awaiting and the helpers of Imam al-Mahdi and promote the movement of the reading of religious books.
In his first sermon, the prominent Iranian cleric discussed the exegesis of Surah al-Mumtahinah and said that Satan always tries to take advantage of differences in belief and these natural differences are turned into enmity and hostility but Islam seeks assured ways to establish understanding.
Marking the martyrdom anniversary of the beloved daughter from the Prophet Muhammad, Lady Fatimah al-Zahra, Ayatollah Sa’idi said, “We who live in the holy city of Qom are near the Holy Shrine of Lady Fatimah al-Ma’sumah and are in the city of the sources of emulation and the Islamic Seminaries announce to the world that Lady Fatimah al-Zahra is the red line of the Shi’ah community, the Supreme Leader, the sources of emulation and the officials of the Islamic Republic and year after year, we will increase our devotion, glorification and reverence to Lady Fatimah al-Zahra.”
