RNA – Grand Ayatollah Hoseyn Vahid-Khorasani, a Shi’ah source of emulation, received Masoumeh Ebtekar, the vice-president of Iran and head of the Environmental Protection Organization, in his office in Qom on Tuesday, February 7.
During the meeting, the renowned scholar reiterated that mankind has two forms of lives, physical and spiritual.
Ayatollah Vahid-Khorasani said, “This environment that we live in does not only belong to us. According to our religious teachings, we need to protect our environment the same way it’s essential to preserve our spiritual aspect of lives as well.”
His Eminence added, “Preserving our environment is on a par with protecting our human dignity. Therefore, it’s only rational to protect our environment as religious and social duty.”
Advising the Iranian officials, Ayatollah Vahid-Khorasani referred to a narration by Prophet Muhammad in which he recommended people to recite Quran and said, “The words of God illuminate our hearts. Reciting Quran vitalizes human spirit as a spring breeze freshens the nature. I advise you to recite as much Quran as you can and offer its blessings to Imam al-Asr, be sure that His Eminence will help you in times of trouble.”
