RNA – In an interview with the media, Hujjat al-Islam Hoseyn Ebrahimi referred to 1953 Iranian coup d’état and stated, “The victory of the popular movement and subsequently Mohammad Mosaddegh’s rise to power as the Prime Minister took place only due to the support of the Iranian people, as well as Ayatollah Sayyed Abolqasem Kashani’s guidelines. Mosaddegh’s victories and achievements in the political arena and his rise to the post of the Prime Minister was due to Ayatollah Kashani’s aid and supports, but unfortunately their visions began to diverge after a while and Mosaddegh was mistaken by thinking he did not need Ayatollah Kashani’s guidelines and support anymore.”
Hujjat al-Islam Ebrahimi said that concurrent with Mosaddegh’s dissention with the clerics, his companions began insulting Ayatollah Kashani, they even took hostile positions against him, they thought they could remove him from the political scene, but those actions led to the 1953 Iranian coup and the putschists realized their pre-ordained objectives.”
The senior cleric further stated, “As Mosaddegh tried to remove Ayatollah Kashani, he was in fact losing popular support for his government. Later General Fazlollah Zahedi took advantage of this situation, administered a coup overnight and stormed into Mosaddegh’s house and in the end arrested and removed him from power.”
Hujjat al-Islam Ebrahimi continued, saying, “Since Mosaddegh had already lost the popular support as well as the clerics’ cooperation, he was unable to stand against the American puppets and putschists.”
Reiterating that the US can never be trusted, he added, “As a matter of fact, American democracy and human rights are selective and arbitrary. It means their rhetoric on American democracy is not true, furthermore, their claim that US government engages in protecting human rights is also a big lie.”
His Eminence said, “You can see for yourselves what American democracy has done to Yemen. Hundreds of Yemeni children and women are being slaughtered by Saudi regime which is being backed by the US. American human rights organizations not only do not care about Yemeni citizens but also support the Saudis inhumane slaughter of Yemeni people.”
Stressing that most humane and Islamic form of human rights are currently being observed in Iran, Hujjat al-Islam Ebrahimi remarked, “In the US and other arrogant governments, human rights are applied to guarantee the benefits of a small minority of people and they do not care about other nations’ rights at all since human values do not mean anything to them.”
