RNA - While expressing disgust on US President’s move in unveiling the imposed and so-called peace plan of “Deal of the century”, Larijani, in a letter issued on Wednesday, called upon his counterparts in the Islamic states to counter Trump administration’s plan for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which Palestinians have already dismissed.
He also urged Parliament speakers in Islamic countries to support referendum and use of parliamentary diplomacy as the sole way of resolving crisis in Palestine.
“I would like to express my extreme abhorrence and condemnation from the US President Trump’s move in unveiling the so-called peace plan of ‘Deal of the Century’ which was announced in Washington on Jan. 28, 2020 in the presence of representatives of the Zionist regime. The plan contravenes all international resolutions, agreements and laws of UN Charter, Arab League and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) with regards to resolving the Palestinian case,” he underlined in his letter.
Late on Tuesday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry lashed out at Trump's so-called "Deal of the century" as a great betrayal to the causes of the Palestinians and all Muslim nations of the world, urging all Islamic countries to get united, regardless of differences and disagreements, to fight against the “treason of the century”.
"The Zionist regime is an occupying regime and the only solution to solve the Palestinian crisis is a referendum among all main residents of the Palestinian land and such vicious plans are doomed to failure," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Seyed Abbas Mousavi said.
He called on all free nations and governments in the region and across the world to counter Trump's disgraceful scheme.
Earlier on Tuesday, Trump repeated his highly controversial endorsement of occupied Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s “undivided capital” as he outlined his administration’s self-styled plan for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which Palestinians have already dismissed.
Defying international outcry, Trump announced the general provisions of the plan he calls “the deal of century” at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at his side.
He endorsed his contentious recognition in December 2017 of the al-Quds as Israel’s “capital,” a move he took in the face of Palestinian demands that the holy city should serve as the capital of their future state. He said the plan envisages the city as the Israeli regime’s “undivided capital.”
The Iranian spokesperson further noted that Palestine and Jerusalem al-Quds are the main issues of the Muslim world and expressed regret that "some Muslim countries have forgotten this cause," voicing concerns that it is meant to harm "the future and prestige of Muslims and Islamic countries”.
"They have forgotten over 70 years of anti-human crimes by the Zionist regime [either] deliberately or due to strategic ignorance."
Given the urgency and importance of the Palestinian issue and the major conspiracy behind the so-called deal against the Muslim ummah, the Islamic Republic of Iran, regardless of its difference with certain regional countries, is ready to cooperate at any level to forge unity in the Muslim world and thwart the big plot that has endangered Muslim nations, he added.
Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday dismissed the US president's “delusional" plan, stressing that it will be “dead on arrival.”
Zarif made the remarks in a tweet, noting that instead of promoting the so-called deal, the world must respect the rights of all Palestinian peoples to self-determination.
“Instead of a delusional ‘Deal of the Century’—which will be D.O.A.—self-described ‘champions of democracy’ would do better to accept Iran's democratic solution proposed by Ayatollah @khamenei_ir,” Iran's foreign minister said.
According to the English-language online newspaper Times of Israel, the deal drastically undermines Palestinian hopes for restoring land seized by Israeli settlements and allows Israel to expand its territory even further.
The plan has already been unanimously rejected by all Palestinian factions.
In June 2018, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei reasserted the need for a referendum among “true Palestinians of all faiths,” being Muslims, Christians or Jews, stressing that such a move would lead to the establishment of the Palestinian government.
Ayatollah Khamenei said the referendum and the subsequent formation of such a governing system would eventually translate into the destruction of the "bogus regime" of Israel in the not-too-distant future.
Once that happens, the Leader said, the unity of the Islamic Ummah as well as its esteem would be further bolstered.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh said on Monday that President Trump’s so-called deal of the century aims to protect him from impeachment and the Israeli premier from imprisonment.
“This plan does not form the basis for resolving the conflict, and is presented by a party that has lost its integrity and credibility. It is a plan to protect Trump from impeachment and [Benjamin] Netanyahu from prison. It is not a Middle East peace plan,” Shtayyeh told a weekly cabinet session in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah.
“This plan gives Israel sovereignty over Palestinian territory,” he said.
According to Fars News Agency, in August, Ayatollah Khamenei, in a message to the great congregation of pilgrims to the Hajj rituals of 2019, called upon Muslims to take advantage of the event to promote awareness against the harms of the so-called Deal of the Century for Palestinians.
“The ploy of Deal of the Century prepared by the oppressive US, and its treasonous cohorts, is a crime against human society, and not just the Palestinian nation,” Ayatollah Khamenei said, in his message, on the advent of the start of the Hajj rituals of this year.
“We are inviting everyone to actively participate in overcoming this deception by the enemy, and with the power and help of God, we consider this and all other ruses by the arrogant front doomed to failure against the efforts, and faith of the Resistance front,” the Leader underlined.
“Today, one of the most important issues of the Muslim world is Palestine, which is at the top of Muslims’ political issues, regardless of their school of thought, race, and language,” he stressed.
“The greatest injustice in recent history has happened in Palestine. In this painful affair, all that a nation had—their land, homes, farms, belongings, dignity, and identity—was confiscated. With God’s assistance, this nation has not surrendered to defeat, and has not given up, and today, they are on the battlefields more enthusiastic, and braver than yesterday. But the ultimate outcome requires assistance from all Muslims,” Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted.
In July, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that remarks by Hezbollah Chief Seyed Hassan Nasrallah about saying prayers at Beit al-Muqaddas is a completely achievable goal.
"That Mr. Seyed Hassan Nasrallah says 'I will pray at Masjid al-Aqsa (Al-Aqsa mosque), God willing,' is an absolutely practical and achievable aspiration for us. If we all act upon our duties, the divine promise will definitely come true," Ayatollah Khamenei said in a meeting with a Palestinian delegation headed by Saleh al-Arouri, the Deputy Chairman of the politburo of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Tehran on July 22.
"The victory of the people of Palestine and the return of this holy land to the World of Islam is not a strange and unattainable matter. 40 years ago no one could believe that in Iran — which was the center of US's influence and aspirations — a religious government would emerge and the Israeli embassy in Tehran turn into Palestine’s embassy," he added.
