President Rouhani:
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that the current administration of the US under President Donald Trump is unprecedented in the American history in terms of support for state terrorism, and vowed that Tehran will increase its power in the face of Washington’s oppressive behavior.

RNA - “We didn’t think that a cunning and terrorist-sponsor administration would come to power in the US and put more pressure on Iran, the region, the world and its allies more than any other American administration in the history,” Rouhani said on Tuesday in the inauguration ceremony for the second phase of Tehran's 7th water treatment plant in Pakdasht county.

Rouhani said it is true that sanctions have caused difficulties in the process of fulfilling his administration’s plans for developing the country, “but we will not abandon our hopes and dreams and will continue our tireless efforts for people’s welfare and prosperity and promoting justice.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Rouhani stressed the need to obtain power. “We think that power is useful against the US and oppressors; no, it is also useful when interacting with friends, neighbors, and brothers. If you are not powerful, even a small neighboring country would bully you.”

On Thursday, Iran's Ambassador to Paris Bahram Qassemi in a Twitter message blasted the US for increasing its brutal sanctions and pressures against Tehran, and said Washington is merely thinking of its unilateralism scenario.

“Those pressuring Iran either in the field of JCPOA or in the field of defense capabilities and deterrence policies are exactly moving in line with promoting unilateralism and instability in the region,” Qassemi tweeted.

In a relevant Twitter message on Wednesday, Qassemi said that the EU claiming to be supporting the JCPOA never fulfilled its commitments in the field of economy. Now, it is speaking about an action whose outcome will be nothing but destruction of JCPOA. This is the same end the US has delineated for the international accord.

In relevant remarks on Wednesday, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani condemned the assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani by the US, and said Washington is at the peak of its hostile approach towards the Islamic Republic compared with what it has done against Iran all throughout the last 40 years.

The US animosity towards Iran has reached its highest level since the Islamic Revolution, Larijani said in a local ceremony, noting that “We are now seeing a full-scale confrontation” where Washington carries out an act of “state terrorism”.

“The martyrdom of General Soleimani led to an awakening in Iran and the region,” he stated, adding that the incident “created unity inside the country which in part affects other countries.”

“A superpower assassinates our General who was a guest in another country … this tarnished the US image,” Larijani added.

“Westerners and Americans are using all means and plots to impede Iran’s economic growth and consequently to put pressure on people,” he said.

Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani was assassinated in a US drone strike on Baghdad International Airport in Iraq on January 3.

The airstrike also martyred Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy commander of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), or Hashd al-Shaabi. The two were martyred in an American airstrike that targeted their vehicle on the road to the airport.

Five Iranian and five Iraqi militaries were martyred by missiles fired by the US drone at Baghdad International Airport.
