Iranian Supreme Leader's Top Adviser for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati voiced his country’s strong opposition to the formation of any safe zone in the region, adding that such measures are plots to disintegrate the countries of the region. RNA - In a meeting with Syria’s Ambassador to Iran Adnan Hassan Mahmoud and his accompanying delegation on Saturday in Tehran, Velyati underlined that “We do not agree with establishment of a safe zone in Syria or in any other regional countries by foreigners, since it means disintegration of the region and having it managed by foreigners."
He added that any change in Syria’s legislation must be done by its people and without the interference of foreign countries.
Velayati noted that the US President frankly says Americans are in Syria for oil, “This is an illegitimate act and an obvious theft.”
“The Islamic Republic of Iran disagrees with any type of interference of trans-regional countries in the regional issues and will resist against all the made threats and aggression besides their planned scenarios that seek disintegration of regional countries.”
The visiting delegation, in this meeting, expressed gratitude for the Iranian Supreme Leader, officials and nation for supporting oppressed Syrians.
In August, Senior Advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Hossein Amir Abdollahian congratulated the Syrian government and people on thwarting enemies' plots to disintegrate the country after the army succeeded in purging the terrorists from Khan Sheikhoun.
“Congrats to Syrian people, army and leaders on eliminating terrorists from Khan Sheikhoun. Idlib will join Syria soon. Plots for Syria breakdown and terrorism failed," Amir Abdollahian wrote on his twitter page.
According to Fars News Agency, he noted that President Assad will remain in power by people's votes, saying, "Refugees are returning to Syria and intra-Syrian negotiation is underway."
Early in May, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami underlined the necessity for closer ties between Tehran and Baghdad, saying that Iran's support for Iraq against the ISIL terrorist group prevented the former's disintegration.
