RNA - According to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS and released on Monday night 45 percent of American voters say Trump should be impeached and removed from office.
Fifty-six percent of the non-white respondent and 51 percent of the women in the survey said Trump ought to be impeached and removed from office.
The survey's findings fall in line with several other polls related to Trump and impeachment. A new Fox News poll released Sunday found that 50 percent of Americans supported impeaching and removing Trump.
The CNN poll was conducted by phone among a national population of 1,005 adults between December 12 and December 15.
The margin of error of the CNN/SSRS poll is estimated at 3.7 points.
Meanwhile, Trump, who is facing impeachment this week, described the Democrats move to impeach him as a hoax.
"The Impeachment Hoax is the greatest con job in the history of American politics!" Trump contended on Twitter. "The Fake News Media, and their partner, the Democrat Party, are working overtime to make life for the United Republican Party, and all it stands for, as difficult as possible!"
On Monday, the US House Judiciary Committee released its report explaining the impeachment charges against Trump, explaining that the US president had “betrayed the nation by abusing his high office.”
“President Trump has placed his personal, political interests above our national security, our free and fair elections, and our system of checks and balances,” stated the 658-page document. “He has engaged in a pattern of misconduct that will continue if left unchecked. Accordingly, President Trump should be impeached and removed from office.”
Two articles of impeachment have already been passed against Trump in the Democrat-led House of Representatives.
The full House is expected to vote on articles of impeachment on Wednesday. If it is approved as expected, it will make Trump the third president to be impeached in US history.
Trump has been accused of abuse of power for pressuring Ukraine to announce investigations into to investigate political rival Joe Biden.
“When the president demands that a foreign government announce investigations targeting his domestic political rival, he corrupts our elections,” the report stated. “To the founders, this kind of corruption was especially pernicious, and plainly merited impeachment. American elections should be for Americans only.”
The document also called on the House to approve an article of impeachment charging the president with obstruction of Congress, arguing that “President Trump’s obstruction of Congress does not befit the leader of a democratic society.”
