The UAE is spending $2mln monthly to support plots hatched by Mohammad Yusuf Dahlan, a Palestinian politician and the former leader of Fatah in Gaza, to control Fatah and take the movement's leadership.

RNA - The Arabic-language al-Khaleej Online quoted Palestinian sources in Fatah movement in the West Bank as saying that the UAE has resumed its meddling in Palestine's internal affairs and is attempting hard to hit a blow at the position of the prominent Palestinian leaders.

They added that Dahlan is in a secret war with Abbas to take control of Fatah movement, adding that over $2mln, supplied by Abu Dhabi, is being paid by him to the Palestinians who were coaxed into defecting Fatah movement and supporting Dahlan.

Relevant reports said last year that Egypt and the UAE were encouraging Dahlan to form a new Palestinian party to challenge President Abbas.

Dahlan was asked by the UAE to form a political party dissociated from Fatah, given Abbas’ refusal to end his and Dahlan's dispute, which goes back to 2010. Dahlan lives in exile in the UAE but is still a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC). The UAE also wants Dahlan to run in the next presidential election.
