American voters are split on how they view President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new poll. According to Fars News Agency, the breakdown is roughly the same as Trump’s overall approval ratings for March. The poll found that 46 percent of Americans said they approve of the job Trump is doing as president, and 51 percent said they disapprove. Trump’s overall approval ratings have not changed much in recent months, based on the poll.
When asked about their confidence in government officials to respond to the outbreak, the majority of Americans said they are confident in their state and local governments. The poll found 75 percent said they are confident in their state government and 72 percent said the same about their local government.
A lesser majority, 62 percent, said they are confident in the federal government to respond, but just 48 percent said that they are confident in Trump to respond to the coronavirus, based on the poll.
The same poll found that sixty percent of Americans said the worst is yet to come, with a strong partisan divide; 79 percent of Democrats said the worst is still ahead, while 40 percent of Republicans agreed.
