RNA - The IRGC forces managed to kill one, injure two and arrest one members of a terrorist group active in Chaldoran region, in the Northwestern province of West Azerbaijan, in an ambush attack today, the IRGC's Hamzeh Seyed al-Shohada Base said in a statement this afternoon.
The security forces were hunting for the 4-strong sabotage gang in the past two days.
Also, IRGC forces seized a number of weapons and some ammunition from the terrorists in the operation.
The IRGC is actively engaged in security operations against anti-Iran terrorist groups and accordingly is attacked by entities and terrorist groups which hold grudge against Tehran.
On February 13, a bus carrying the IRGC personnel was hit by an explosives-laden truck on a road from the city of Khash to Zahedan, the capital of Sistan and Baluchistan province, where 27 IRGC members were martyred and 13 others wounded.
According to Fars News Agancy, ten days later, Iranian security forces identified and arrested 13 individuals linked to the suicide bombing.
Late in last month, in a most recent successful operation by Iranian security forces against terrorist groups, a provincial police chief in Western Iran disclosed that a terrorist team intending to carry out an attack on International Quds Day rallies in the city of Sanandaj was confronted and dismantled.
Commander of Kordestan Law Enforcement Forces Brigadier General Ali Azadi said three members of the terrorist cell were captured after police received intelligence tips about their whereabouts.
He noted that different weapons and ammunition have been also seized from the terrorists.
According to the police chief, the terrorists planned to conduct an attack on the International Quds Day rallies in the provincial capital city of Sanandaj.
