Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif blasted Washington's soft foreign policy towards Saudi Arabia due to its purchase of the US-made weapons while pressuring Iran which is a pioneer state in fighting against terrorism.

RNA - "Kill 3,000+ Americans but remain a US client and you can have nuclear weapons—even get help in acquiring them. But refuse to bow to B-Team's whims, you can't even possess peaceful nuclear energy," Zarif wrote on his Twitter page in an apparent reference to Saudi nationals' involvement in 9/11 attacks in New York and the US continued arms sales to Riyadh.

"It apparently matters not that Iran is killing ISIS (ISIL terrorist group) while US' clients arm it," he added, referring to Saudi Arabia and the UAE's support for the terrorists in the region.

Saudi Arabia has been promoting Wahhabism in the world which is the root cause of Takfiri terrorism.

In relevant remarks in June 2018, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani blamed Wahhabism, mainly promoted by Saudi Arabia, for the formation of Takfiri terrorist groups that have stirred crisis in the regional states.

"Wahhabism was the ideological bed for Takfiri terrorism and the ISIL was created based on Wahhabism, a plot hatched by certain world powers and the role played by a number of ignorant and contending regional states," Shamkhani said in a meeting with his Uzbek counterpart Viktor Makhmudov in Tehran.

He referred to the US attempts to misuse terrorism to its own benefits as well as regional concerns about the transfer of the ISIL terrorists to Afghanistan and Central Asia, and said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to share its bright and successful experiences in fighting terrorism with other regional countries."
