RNA - Based on a report released by the Palestinian Prisoners Center, 1,800 arrest cases were documented in Jerusalem, 900 in al-Khalil, and 215 in the Gaza Strip, Palinfo reported.
The reported noted that 980 children were arrested in 2018, many of whom were under the age of 10, like the 3-year-old Dergham Maswada who was harassed and detained by Israeli soldiers in the Old City of al-Khalil.
In 2018, 175 Palestinian women and girls, 7 members of the parliament, 1,300 ex-prisoners, and 150 Palestinians with special needs were arrested.
During the same period, 5 Palestinian detainees died while in Israeli custody: Yasin al-Saradih, 33, Mohammed Anbar, 46, Mohammed Marshoud, 30, Aziz Oweisat, 53, and Mohammed al-Rimawi, 24.
The report added that the Israel Prison Service conducted 185 break-ins into the Palestinian prisoners' cells and dungeons in 2018, an increase by 26% compared to 2017.
The Israeli Knesset in 2018 discussed and approved a number of arbitrary bills targeting Palestinian prisoners, including a law that allows the execution of prisoners who carried out attacks, a law that provides for cutting funds to the Palestinian Authority by the amount it pays to the families of prisoners, and a law that deprives prisoners affiliated with resistance groups detaining Israeli soldiers of family visits.
