RNA - During the meeting on Wednesday, both sides stressed common stances in fighting against terrorism and finding ways out of current problems and challenges in the region.
The ongoing developments in the region and the world proved that the policies adopted by the Syrian government from early stages of the imposed war in response to the policies of other countries in the region and west were timely and correct, President Assad said in the meeting.
These countries tried to attain their interests through expansion of chaos and destabilizing the Middle East region regardless of its catastrophic consequences, he said.
Syria with reliance to the supports made by its allies, mainly the Islamic Republic of Iran, in political scene brought consecutive defeats to terrorists, President Assad said.
Jaberi Ansari, for his part, said the victory of Syria in fight against terrorists and restoration of security to the country was regarded a victory for Iran and all those nations who have faith in defending their countries and independence.
In relevant remarks in April, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani renewed Tehran's support for a political solution to the Arab country's crisis.
"Syrian crisis cannot be resolved militarily and it only needs a political solution," President Hassan Rouhani said, addressing a press conference.
President Rouhani reiterated that from the beginning of crisis in Syria Iran believed that other countries should not interfere in that country's affairs by sponsoring and supporting terrorists.
“In my first visit to New York to attend the UNGA meeting, I told EU leaders that backing terrorists now would end up threatening the security of their own respective countries,” Rouhani added.
The Iranian president said that Iran believed and continues to do so that terrorists gathered from all across the region and beyond in Syria must be eradicated.
