Rasa – Professor Brice Balmer, a Mennonite Christian scholar and researcher at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, visited Baqir al-Uloum University in Qom, Iran in order to become familiar with the centre’s activities.

RNA – Professor Brice Balmer, a Mennonite Christian scholar and researcher at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, paid a visit to Qom’s Baqir al-Uloum University in order to become familiar with the academic organization of the centre.


He also held a meeting with Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Mahmoud Mousavi, the educational deputy of Baqir al-Uloum University, as well as some of its faculty members.
 

Professor Balmer’s main focus of study is on interfaith dialogue between Islam and Christianity, the purpose of his visit to the university was to become familiar with the current scientific activities of the centre and how its scholars localize such new sciences.

 

During the meeting he learned some information on the process of establishing the university, its objectives and future plans.


He also gave a speech to the students of the English department of Baqir al-Uloum University on the interactions between Canadian Christians and Muslim communities.
 

Professor Balmer later asked for the participants’ comments during a discussion session on his respected field of study and answered some of the students’ questions.


He also visited different parts of the university including its library and took a close look at its special book collection.


In conclusion, Professor Balmer of Wilfrid Laurier University attended some of the classes to observe their ongoing studies.
