Rasa News Agency reports - Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammad-Ali Alavi-Gorgani has met with members of an committee planning a youth week. He stressed to the members that they should realize the pressures exerted on the youth by various factors, saying: “Those who seek to serve the youth have a heavy responsibility upon their shoulders.”
His Eminence told the committee members that the period of youth is an important time and explained that we must prepare today’s youth now to lead our country in the future and bring about future success.
Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani referred to the sacrifices of Iran’s young people during the the 8-year long Iran-Iraq War, saying. Many young men were martyred and gave up their lives to save the Islamic Revolution from annihilation. “Our youth sacrificed their lives on the battlefield and performed their role well,” His Eminence stated.
He explained that young people provide for the vitality of the greater community if they are given the necessary tools to accomplish their goals. More programs and better planning needs to implemented, along with greater funding for youth activities so that the problems which many Iranian youth face, can be solved and can be prevented in the future. Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani stressed the need to pay attention to the specific needs of the youth.
Iranian youth suffer many problems. Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani stated that the issue of divorce is a major problem in Iranian society, along with improper hijab for women, corruption, and immoral behaviours. These problems can cause the disintegration of families and create other problems in society as well. These problems must be solved for the betterment of the greater society.
His Eminence explained that we also need to plan to attract the youth toward religion in order to reduce the amount of sin which occurs in society. An important task for the authorities is to help the youth gain knowledge. “If our youth were to attend religious functions and gatherings, they would become more aware of their religion, and more willing to follow it,” His Eminence explained.
Ayatollah Alavi-Gorgani concluded by emphasizing the need for unity and harmony within the country: “If we want society to reach success we must join hands and work together to move the country forward.”
