Rasa News Agency reports – A day-long lecture on the tafsir (exegesis) of the 59th holy chapter of the Quran, al-Hashr (The Exile) will be held at the University of London on January 4, 2014.

This lecture will be held in collaboration with the London Academy of Quranic Sciences and the various dimensions of the chapter will be examined.

Surat al-Hashr relates and reminds the believers of the different events and issues that emanated from the exile of Banu Nadir. It relates the plot to murder the Prophet Muhammad (S) and his actions in dealing with the perpetrators. This chapter deals with the issues pertaining to treachery and treason. It reminds us of the evils of jealousy, malice and enmity. It reminds Muslims to appreciate life and to ponder on the virtues of dhikr (remembrance of God). Furthermore, it relates the beautiful names of God thus emphasising and reinforcing that God is Mighty and that He is the Knower of the seen and the unseen.

Shaykh Mohammed Adil Rehman is a doctoral student in Islamic political philosophy in the United Kingdom and the former president of the European Muslim Youth and Student Organisations in Belgium. He will be delivering the lecture.

This lecture is a continuation of a series of regular lectures held every month by the British Academy of Quranic Studies (BAQS) and Islamic Institute for Development and Research (IIDR) held at the University of London. The aim of the lecture series is to understand and be familiar with the life teachings of the Holy Quran.
