Rasa – “The Islamic Awakening in the Light of Karbala” is the title of a series of lectures that are being held at the Islamic Centre of England in London during the first ten days of the holy month of Muharram.

Rasa News Agency reports - A series of lectures on the “Islamic Awakening in the Light of Karbala” are currently being held at the Islamic Centre of England.

 

These lectures began on November 5 at the Islamic Centre of England and will be held for the first ten days of the Islamic holy month of Muharram (until November 14).

 

In these lectures, Hujjat al-Islam Sayyed Muhammad Tasdeeq from India, will discuss the subject of the “Islamic Awakening in the Light of Karbala” for Urdu-speaking Shi’ite Muslims living in England.

 

Along with these lectures, Urdu-speaking Muslims are taking part in congregational prayers and the recitation of elegies (nawhah) and traditional mourning rites (‘azadari) commemorating the tragic events of

Karbala. These are among other programs that are being held during the nights of Muharram.

 

The Islamic Centre of England is also hosting a series of lectures entitled “The Everlasting Husayni Revolution” in the English language during the first ten days of Muharram. These lectures will be delivered by Hujjat al-Islam Hamza Sodagar, an Iranian-American scholar based in the holy city of Qom, Iran.

 

There are also lectures and the recitation of elegies in the Arabic and Persian languages being held at the Islamic Centre of England commemorating the tragedy of Imam Husayn, his companions and family held during this sombre time for Shi’ite Muslims across the globe.
