Iranian Supreme Leader's top Aide for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati in a meeting with the Syrian ambassador to Tehran rapped US President Donald Trump for recognizing annexation of Syria's Golan Heights to Israel, describing it as a move to cap the Zionists' crimes.

RNA - "Such measures are aimed at capping the internal and international problems (of Washington) and the crimes and problems of the Zionist regime, and of course, they will never succeed," Velayati said in the meeting in Tehran on Thursday.

He added that the US imposition of its cruel policies to the entire world, including Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia, will further isolate the country before the international public opinion and governments and indicates Washington's weakness.

Velayati said that Trump actually continues policies of his predecessors which is implementing Israel's plots and demands in the region and it has been manifested in recent years in three aggressive moves, including the Deal of Century Plan, relocation of the US embassy to holy Quds and recognition of annexation of Syria's Golan Heights to Israel.

In relevant remarks on Sunday, Velayati had condemned Trump’s remarks on the Syrian territories of the Golan Heights, but meantime said the statements would further increase the solidarity of the resistance front in countering Israeli occupation.

Velayati denounced Trump’s call to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over Golan Heights, territory captured from Syria in a 1967 war.

Recognition of Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights by the US president will increase instability and crisis in the region, said Velayati who also acts as the Secretary General of the World Assembly of Islamic Awakening.

He said that this move by the US president would reaffirm the Resistance Front's commitment to fight the “Zionist regime” and its supporters.

According to Fars News Agancy, the Golan Heights are the inseparable parts of Syria and the US presidents' move is against international law, Velayati noted.

He urged all Muslims and freedom-seeking people to condemn the US bullying and support the Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Trump on Monday formally recognized Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, reversing decades of United State's policy. The announcement came as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the White House in a trip.

World nations and prominent international rights groups condemned the recent decision by Trump to recognize Israel’s “sovereignty” over the Golan Heights, which has been under the Tel Aviv regime’s occupation for more than 50 years but belongs to Syria.
