RNA - Professor Musa Najafi recounted a meeting with Ayatollah Khamenei and a memoir the Supreme Leader said in that meeting about South African leader Nelson Mandela.

Ayatollah Khamenei said, “On a trip to Africa during my presidency period, a representative was sent to South Africa to get information about Nelson Mandela's situation in prison and try to release him from the jail”.

“After a while, Mandela released from the prison and met with me on a non-diplomatic meeting. Knowing that we had tried to release him from the prison, Mandela came to thank us”, the Supreme leader of Iran added.

“During the visit, I told him that the reason for the success of Imam Khomeini in the victory of the Iranian revolution was that he brought the masses of people to the streets and people were also willing to sacrifice themselves in the way of Imam Khomeini's ideals with their lives”, Ayatollah Khamenei stated.

Ayatollah Khamenei said, “After hearing this issue about the Iranian Revolution and a few months after Mandela's return to his country, news of popular rallies on the streets of South Africa was published”, and added that it was obvious that the way of the struggle of Imam Khomeini against Shah’s regime, has had a great impact on Mandela and his campaign pattern.

“This is an example of the greatness and impact of the Islamic Revolution of Iran on other freedom movements worldwide, and the result of the Islamic Revolution in Iran will be continued by generation after generation”, Supreme leader of Islamic revolution of Iran concluded.
