RNA - Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani on Monday lauded the unity among various ethnic groups in the country.
“The foreign enemies could not divide various sects living in Iran because of their rich culture,” Larijani said addressing a local ceremony.
He added that presence of various ethnic groups in Iran has enriched the nation's culture and empowered it.
Larijani noted that certain small countries of the region are trying to provoke sectarianism in the region, but their efforts are doomed to failure.
In a related front in 2017, Iranian President’s former Special Adviser for Religious and Ethnic Minorities’ Affairs Ali Younesi stressed the Islamic Republic's support for the freedom of religious and ethnic minorities.
According to Fars News Agancy, the Iranian government attaches great importance to ethnic minorities and tribal citizens, Younesi said, addressing a gathering in the Central province of Isfahan on Wednesday.
Iran's Constitution has officially recognized Christianity, Judaism and Zoroastrianism as divine religions alongside Islam and their followers are having a peaceful life and friendly relationship with each other.
