Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs Yousef Ede’es on Sunday condemned the raid by dozens of extremist Israeli settlers, led by the Knesset member Yehuda Glick, to Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.

RNA - He said in a press release that “ongoing violations done to Al-Aqsa Mosque and Islamic and Christian places of worship by Israeli political figures are pushing for more provocative tours of the mosque by the settlers, who enjoy political and security protection from the right-wing Israeli government", WAFA reported.

“The political and security cover that the settlers enjoy to carry out daily violations is pushing them further,” he said. “The racist slogans that these extremists painted on the walls of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Mosque in the village of Haris in Salfit days ago are a proof of this.”

He called on the institutions of the international community that are concerned with preserving heritage and places of worship to put an end to these violations, which lead to further escalation.

About 118 Israeli settlers, including Glick, Sunday broke into al-Aqsa mosque under heavy protection of Israeli police.
