RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Mojtaba Zonnour, the representative of the people of Qom in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, referred to the recent statements by President Hasan Rouhani, who introduced the opposition to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) as a factor in the creation of the current situation, and said, “Government officials and the president must be clear about the costs imposed on Iran in regard to the JCPOA.”
The member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly said, “If people know at what level the country’s nuclear power has been destroyed by the JCPOA and how many concessions the country has given to the other parties during the negotiations, they can certainly judge the catastrophic operation of the government and the negotiating team.”
Recalling the role of President Rouhani during the negotiations, Hujjat al-Islam Zonnour said, “The president deceived the people, saying that ‘all of the sanctions will be removed after the implementation of the JCPOA.’”
His Eminence emphasized, “The people accepted the historical disgrace of the JCPOA that caused serious damage to the nuclear power and international humiliation for the country because it got rid of the sanctions but today we see that none of the sanctions has been removed after the JCPOA.”
He criticized the government’s neglect of the orders of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution [Ayatollah Khamenei], saying, “The Supreme Leader considered the negotiations to be subject to the lifting of all sanctions. He even emphasized that if the sanctions weren’t removed under the JCPOA, the country would face ‘absolute damage,’ but in reality we saw that the government acted in contradiction to the orders of the Supreme Leader and caused a huge loss to the country.”
Criticizing the negotiating team during the negotiations, Hujjat al-Islam Zonnour said, “There has been no guarantee from the other parties has been made to remain committed to the JCPOA because the president of the United States (Donald Trump) turned all of the agreements that had been made upside down in an abusive manner.”
