RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Mohsen Kouhkan, a member of the ‎Velaei Faction in Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, stated that before any negotiations ‎are considered, we must take into consideration how much we can trust the opposite side ‎and said, “Looking at the unfaithfulness and lack of adherence of the United States to its ‎obligations, the  negotiations will not find meaning and signification.” ‎

Pointing out the unfaithfulness of United States and neglect of international law and ‎unilateralism, the representative of the people of Lenjan in the Islamic Consultative ‎Assembly said, “When the two sides are negotiating, they must be aware of the minimum ‎guarantees for fulfilling their obligations after the negotiations. Thus, when there is no trust in ‎one side of the negotiations, the negotiations will be meaningless.”‎

Kouhkan referred to the outcome of some countries who have compromised and said, “In ‎the last few decades, we have witnessed many statements from people which led to a desire ‎for compromise and then they explicitly confessed themselves by mistake. One of them was ‎Yaser Arafat, who, during the last few days of his life, responded to a journalist who asked, ‎‎‘what was the biggest mistake you made in your political life?’ with ‘My biggest mistake was ‎trusting the Americans.’”

The conservative politician and economist noted, “We also carefully consider the fate of ‎‎[former Libyan leader] Muammar al-Qadhafi’s that the United States has no commitment to ‎its obligations. al-Qadhafi trusted the United States to provide nuclear energy studies to his ‎country, but the Americans didn’t fulfill any of their obligations.”

Referring to the fact that today, everyone acknowledges that the United States is dishonest ‎in negotiations, he said, “Negotiating with the United States won’t only have no benefits for ‎Iran, but rather it will also be a disadvantage.”‎

Kouhkan said that the adversaries of compromise with the United States suffered a major ‎strategic mistake, one of the perceived harms by the representatives of these people was ‎as follows, “When those who suffer from major strategic mistakes, they have a podium and ‎microphone, their alarms and their voice will be louder than others.”‎
