Aleppo

Kurdish militias continued attacking the positions of the Ankara-backed militants in occupied Afrin region in Northwestern Aleppo, killing or wounding several gunmen and destroying their vehicles on Monday.

The Kurds targeted a base of the Turkey-backed Faylaq al-Sham near the village of Ba'eth in al-Qazawiyah region Southeast of the town of Afrin, killing or injuring five gunmen.

Damascus

The Israeli Air Force conducted several flights along the Lebanese-Syrian border the past 24 hours, prompting the Syrian military to raise their alert levels and prepare their air defenses for a potential confrontation.

According to Fars News Agancy, Israeli warplanes were seen flying in the Beqa’a Valley of Eastern Lebanon this morning after entering the country from the Upper Galilee region, the AMN reported.

Once in Lebanon, the Israeli warplanes were seen flying North of the Nabatieh Governorate, making their way to the Beqa’a Valley and eventually the Lebanese-Syrian border.

While the Israeli Air Force did not enter Damascus province, the Syrian military still took precautionary measures by raising their alert levels.

The Israeli Air Force has recently intensified their border flights after their ground units launched “Operation Northern Shield” last Wednesday.

The Israeli Defense Forces’ (IDF) primary objective of Operation Northern Shield is to destroy Hezbollah’s alleged tunnels that stretch as far south as the Upper Galilee region.

Israel has claimed that these tunnels were going to be used by Hezbollah to smuggle their troops into Upper Galilee for future attacks.

Hezbollah has not responded to these allegations by the Israeli Defense Forces; however, the Lebanese government has dismissed Israel’s claims and called for a thorough investigation by the UNIFIL troops.
