RNA - Human Rights Watch (HRW) said on Tuesday that the upcoming elections in Bahrain — slated for November 24 — are taking place in a repressive political environment and Bahrain failed to provide conditions for fair and free voting.

Saeed Shehabi, a political analyst, said that “the world now is really awaken by the fact that these dictators as they have seen in the case of Saudi Arabia and of course in Bahrain cannot be trusted to run democracies.”

“Al Khalifah cannot be a democrat when hundreds and thousands of people are languishing behind bars,” Shehabi said.

“The election [in Bahrain] is to choose people who will only implement what the dictator says; so, it has failed before it has been conducted,” the analyst emphasized.
