RNA - Former deputy foreign minister made the remarks in a meeting with Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Tehran, Nasir Ahmad Nour.
Amir-Abdollahian said the US and the NATO follow a double-standard policy in Afghanistan, adding, “We need to be more vigilant about the current developments taking place in the region.”
He said despite the US’ call for ceasefire in Yemen, the Saudi-led coalition has intensified its aggression, and defenseless civilians are still being massacred.
“Although the US claims to be fighting terrorism and making efforts to establish peace and security, it sets up military bases in Syria without first coordinating (with Syrian government) and backs terrorists,” he asserted.
Amir-Abdollahian further maintained that the White House seeks to organize the presence of terrorists in the region in a bid to intensify pressure on countries that do not support its positions.
The Afghan ambassador, for his part, called for further regional cooperation in a bid to build trust among neighboring countries and to prevent the presence and interference of outside powers in the region.
Last Monday, the forces of the Syrian army discovered and seized a large number of arms and military equipment manufactured by the US and Britain from the bases of terrorist groups that have been captured by the government troops in Quneitra and Damascus provinces.

A field source said that the Syrian army forces have discovered several US-made machine-guns and sniper guns, TOW missiles and tanks as well as a large number of different types of bullets, mortars and communication systems.
According to Fars News Agancy, they added that the army forces also found a large number of advanced medical and surgery equipment made by the US and Britain in the terrorists' dens.
A leading Turkish newspaper revealed on Wednesday that the US is providing direct military support for the ISIL in Raqqa and al-Tanf regions in trade for Syria's artifacts.
The Turkish-language website of Yeni Safak, quoting sources, reported that the US troops have been directly delivering material and technical assistance to terrorists in the town of al-Mansourah, which is located in the Northern Syrian province of Raqqah.
A large cache of US-made weapons, specifically shells and ammunition, was also dispatched to the al-Tanf border crossing with Jordan, which lies at the ultra-strategic intersection of the Syrian, Iraqi, and Jordanian borders, it added.
The US, which has a military base in Tanf, is believed to be regularly training terrorists in the area.
