RNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday also dismissed reports that the Iranian ambassador to Copenhagen had been expelled from Denmark and said the news by no means was true.

Danish intelligence chief, Finn Borch Andersen, on October 30 said a Norwegian citizen of Iranian background was arrested on October 21 on the accusation of helping an unspecified Iranian intelligence service “to act in Denmark” and for alleged involvement in the assassination plot.

He did not name the suspect, but said he has denied wrongdoing and was being held in pre-trial custody until November 8.

Zarif further pointed to talks between Iranian and Danish officials about the issue and said, "We have told them that it is unacceptable to shelter terrorists."

He noted that Iran has expressed its readiness to help Denmark investigate the case and said, "We have to wait and see to what extent the Danes want to adhere to their international obligations."

According to Press TV, immediately after the Danish intelligence chief's claims, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi dismissed his allegations and said that the publication of such "spiteful" media reports and its attribution to Iran is a plot by enemies to affect Tehran's growing relations with European countries.

He emphasized that these claims are the continuation of plots and conspiracies hatched by known enemies who are against good and expanding Iran-Europe relations at the current sensitive conditions.

Later on October 31, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the Danish ambassador to Tehran to express the Islamic Republic’s strong protest to “rash, politicized” remarks by certain officials of the European country over the alleged thwarted assassination plot.

Qassemi said that the head of the first office of Nordic affairs at the Iranian Foreign Ministry met Danny Annan to convey Iran’s strong protest to the reports.
