Rasa - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif dismissed media reports saying that his Saudi counterpart Adel al-Jubeir has secretly contacted Tehran, but meantime, advised Riyadh to abandon tension and crisis escalation policies and behaviors in the region.

RNA - "As far as I know, such a contact has not been made and the Saudi government has not had such a contact (with Iran)," Zarif told reporters on Wednesday at the end of his visit to Pakistan.

He called on Saudi Arabia to review its regional policies, and said Iran is prepared and interested in the expanding good relations with neighbors.

"We believe that our neighbors have not benefited from tensions with Iran and we hope that they will put aside this policy as soon as possible," Zarif said.

Saudi Arabia's interfering policies have always been criticized by the regional and world states. The country is the biggest supporter of terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq and it has waged a war against Yemen. Riyadh has also interfered in Bahrain to guarantee the survival of the dictatorial regime in Manama by assisting the Bahraini forces to suppress the protest rallies and opposition figures.

Saudi Arabia cut its ties with Iran in January 2016 after angry protests in front of its Iran-based diplomatic missions against its earlier execution of a leading Shiite cleric.
