RNA – In an exclusive interview with Rasa News Agency, Hujjat al-Islam Mojtaba Zonnour, quoted the verse of the Holy Quran: “Prepare against them whatever you can of [military] power and war-horses” [8:60] and referred to the missiles attack by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on the positions of terrorists behind the September 22nd attack in Ahvaz and said, “From the context of this verse, deterrent and offensive action arises to frighten the enemies so that even the idea of attacking doesn’t come to mind.”
Referring to the fact that the authority of the Islamic system prevents the enemies from invading our homeland, the member of the National Security Council of the Islamic Consultative Assembly he said, “If we are strong, the enemies won’t be able to attack our country, or if they have given permission to themselves, we can take revenge against them and repel their attack against us.”
He pointed out, “Those with the country who are concerned about our missile power either don’t consider our the national interests as important or don’t understand the importance of this power and don’t know that missile power is a guarantee of our political and economic interests.”
Hujjat al-Islam Zonnour said that Iran’s military power is defence-centred and explained, “We haven’t attacked anyone until now but from the outset, our actions have been defensive and we’ve only responded to the aggression of our enemies. The Islamic Republic will follow the same path with authority and we will surely raise the costs for the enemies.”
Referring to the words of the Supreme Leader of the Revolution [Ayatollah Khamenei] that “the era of bullying power has come to an end,” the representative of the people of Qom in the Islamic Consultative Assembly said, “The Supreme Leader has made this statement with nobility and with information in regard to the country’s defence capabilities and although the people were saddened by the bitter terrorist incident on September 22nd, today the people feel a sense of dignity when they see the authority of the IRGC.”
He considered the missile attack by the IRGC on the positions of the perpetrators of the terrorist attack in Ahvaz as a source of pride for the Iranian people, saying, “The IRGC is a powerful arm of the Iranian nation such that it gave a deadly slap to the aggressors and enemies.”
Hujjat al-Islam Zonnour addressed the enemies and invaders and said, “The enemies know that the policy of the Islamic Republic isn’t aggressive but if an aggressive hand is extended toward the country, the Islamic Republic will break its bones and our actions will be very regrettable for the enemies. We advise the enemies not to play with the lion’s tail and not engage in evil activities because they will regret it.”
On October 1st, the IRGC targeted terrorist positions to the east of the river Euphrates, near the town of Albu Kamal on Syria’s eastern border with Iraq in response to the “cowardly” act of terror during a military parade in the southwestern city of Ahvaz on September 22, which killed 25 people and injured 69 others.
