Rasa - Thousands of Iranian people and government officials attended a funeral procession for the victims of the Saturday terrorist attack in the city of Ahwaz in Khuzestan province in Southwestern Iran.
Iran Holds Funeral for Victims of Ahwaz Terrorist Attack

RNA - The funeral procession was held in Ahwaz on Monday, two days after terrorists opened fire at people during a military parade in Ahwaz city, killing 29 military personnel and civilians, including women and children, wounding at least 70 others.

 

Monday was declared a day of public mourning in Khuzestan Province, and the victims will be buried following the funeral procession.

 

Among the government officials attending the funeral were two representatives of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei; Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami; Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi; Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi and Lieutenant Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Brigadier General Hossein Salami.

 

Earlier, the two representatives of the Leader visited the wounded victims at local hospitals and followed up on their medical treatment.

 

The Saturday terrorist attack on a military parade in Ahwaz left 29 people dead and 70 others injured.

 

Children and journalists were among the casualties. The al-Ahwazi separatist group claimed responsibility for the attack.

 

In relevant remarks on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif  said that "Iran holds regional terror sponsors and their US masters accountable for such attacks".
