Rasa - Israeli forces raided on Wednesday morning Khan al-Ahmar community East of Jerusalem, which is under threat of demolition and displacement, and held activists on a vigil at the community inside the local school, according to Walid Assaf, head of the Wall and Settlements Resistance Committee.

RNA - He told WAFA that forces raided the community in the early hours and imposed a siege on it while forcing the activists to remain inside the school, which is also under threat of demolition.

The activists have been keeping around the clock vigil at the community to prevent its demolition and eviction of its 190-strong Bedouin community.

Israel wants to demolish the community and remove its residents to build a new settlement in its location, a step that has generated strong international protest.

Assaf said the Israeli forces prevent anyone from leaving the community and reaching the main Jerusalem-Jericho road.

The army has continued through the week to open access roads to the community for the heavy bulldozers to reach it when it starts the demolition process, currently on hold for few days as a result of an Israeli High Court injunction.
